CNAME record
Canonical Name
A DNS entry that says one address is another name for a second one, for example www.yourcompany.com leads to the same place as yourcompany.com.
What is a CNAME record used for?
Most often for the “www” address or to connect a service that gives you its own address, such as hosting or an email sending tool.
How is it different from an A record?
An A record points to a server number, while a CNAME points to another name. When that name moves to a different server, the CNAME follows it automatically.
