SSL certificate
Secure Sockets Layer
Protection for the connection to your website. With it, the address starts with https and anything typed into a form is encrypted.
How can you tell that a website has SSL?
The address starts with https://, and the browser shows a padlock or a site information icon next to it. Without a certificate, Chrome marks the page as “Not secure”.
Do you have to pay for a certificate?
A free certificate is enough for a regular website. On Cloudflare hosting the certificate is issued and renewed automatically. Technically it is TLS today, but most people still call it SSL.
